My friend, Matt, has not been attending our human resources class. I admit it can be a little boring, but I like that class, except the part where we have to write a paper about the chapter that we are about to tackle. It comes every week; sometimes twice a week, depending on the length of the topic. No wonder many of my classmates feel bored. I thought Matt has been skipping classes because of the essays, but then I found out that he has to visit home regularly for his dad. Maybe he cuts unimportant classes just to adjust his schedule.
This morning, my professor approached me and asked me to tell him that he could fail the subject by not attending classes. I explained his situation and our teacher agreed to give him a chance if he attends the class on Friday. I think he must also submit two weeks' worth of papers in order to be eligible to take the final examination. That's about 10 papers in all. I was talking to him on the phone a while ago and he was surprised that he was given a chance. He very much would like to complete the requirements, but his schedule won't allow it. That's where I offered him help in writing his essays. I'm also trying to get the others to help. Writing a paper is a piece of cake to me, but there's 10 in all in two days.

Movies can sometime prompt the mind to think of many things, Like the movie “Kool hand Luke” in this film the runaway convict played by (Paul Newman) is encouraged through rigorous discipline to conform his mind to the model prisoner
The warden of the jail insist that all prisoners “Get there mind right” and conform to the jails policies knowing that some will not unless they are forced to get it right, no matter what it takes .
So you maybe wondering what this has to do with you or me, and I aim to show just why! God is the warden of our Souls and he demands us to “Get our mind right”
The Bible says “ Romans 12:2 (King James Version)
2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
So how is it that this relates to us? Think about it , If you don’t have your mind pointed in Gods direction than he may (AS THE WORDEN OF OUR SOULS) place us in confinement,
(Not to force you) But to Show you that you doing it your way will never work.
YOU GOT YOUR MIND RIGHT? I’m getting there!
Once upon a time, men use to rule while women
stayed at home. Nowadays, woman also rules (educated, great careers, while
juggling with being a mom and a wife).
If we were to do a background check on
women back then we could consider them as "left behind". Usually, men went into
politics and other great careers while it was enough for women to just know how
to read and write. This however started to change as the ladies were sooner or
later given a chance to go to universities and make somebody out of themselves.
However when it comes to marriages it seems then that men have become concerned
about women getting more successful than they are.
Us People Search has shown us
the present situation of what type of women most American men are starting to
like. It seems that the once "egotistical" views in partnership and on gender
issues have mellowed as men are becoming more interested on women who have
attained higher in terms of career and education than they (men) do.
Surprise, surprise!!! It’s a new age of non-egotistical, women empowerment
drive. Cheers to the men who have accepted this fact that there's nothing wrong
with having a boss wearing skirt.
Back in the late 60's as many of you will recall, we had the greatest
fighter of all times. Cassius Clay (Later know as Muhammad Ali,) did not
hesitate to proclaim himself as the greatest. Often he would brag about his
beauty and note that no one would be able to mess up his pretty face.
Commentators all over began to announce the skills of his upcoming opponent,
Sonny Liston, who they collectively believed would take him out. Liston, with
his mean, intimidating demeanor had a way of scaring the fear right into you,
but Cassius Clay would not back down, nor did he fear. When the opportunity
arose to prove his greatness, just as he previously said, he entered the ring
and began to "float like a butterfly, and sting like a bee" He proved that
Liston, along with others were no match for him. When given the opportunity to
comment later, he proclaimed, "It's not bragging when you know you've
got the goods."
As we discover our purpose, we unlock our goods for the benefit of ourselves
and others. In fact, most of us never realize that we are carrying "the
goods". We spend so much of our time focusing on the affairs of life
to the point where we miss opportunities to share who we are and what we can
get accomplished as these offers repeatedly present themselves to us.
Have we failed to realize that we are the solution to someone else's problem?
The cheese for their macaroni, or the jelly for their peanut butter sandwich
(putting it in a humorous way)? Every opportunity that is presented
for us to connect with others in one small way or another is an opportunity for
purpose to be manifested. It's the core reason why you are here. When you find
your talents and abliities and figure out a way to share them you've found a
great clue to your "goods." Each one of us carry our own
personal experiences, setbacks, pitfalls, accomplishments, etc. Most of the
time it may seem insignificant to you but may be priceless to someone else.
Everyone, knowingly or unknowingly has something to give. God did not fail to
give you talent.
If you have not pinpointed a specific purpose in life, get busy doing something
that you are capable of doing and chances are that you will find hidden talent
you were never aware of. During our encounter with this journey known as life
we will perpetually remain in the process of becoming. Never fear the changes
that has to take place revamping some or all of your plans, goals and
intentions in one way or another. Circumstances beyond our control will happen.
It is God's way of giving you the opportunity to have different purposes at
different times and stages in life. The best part of finding
yourself temporarily without a purpose is that you get to create a new
one. Perhaps, you have had an encounter with sickness and it
equips you to be a comfort for someone who is in pain. Or, you are very
outgoing, articulate and outspoken and someone in your pathway needs an
advocate. Seize that opportunity! Understand that it is a blessing in disguise
and a chance to grow and develop new talents, abilities and relationships. You
are richly blessed in life. You are you for a reason, time and a purpose. Now
that you know you've got the goods, unleash them and they will
benefit others as well as yourself.
We would like to have Christians who believe that this is wrong to stand up and make it known to their School Districts that this is not wanted in our Schools.
Get involved start your own protest In your city. Keep your child home from school. Most School Districts get money from the state for children, so by simply keeping your child home from school will send a message to the School Districts in the form of loss revenue.
Go to your local School on April16th 2010 and stand a safe distance from the school so you don't disrupt the day of learning and show your displeasure of this day of silence. Bring signs and information of which I will give you links so you can copy and give away.
Here In Champaign Illinois we will have a information and organizing committe meeting Sunday March 21st 5:00 pm at Lighthouse Restoration Church # 3 Henson Place Suite #4. You can contact me for more info at 217 355-2309 or email me on facebook, or at preacherve@aol.com
It is time for us as Christians to fight back If we remain silent this is going to destory our freedoms as Christians, and send the wrong message that this type of behavior is right.
What's the Day of Silence all about--and how can you respond?
On April 16, thousands of American students—some as young as 12—will participate in a "Day of Silence." They will refuse to utter a single word, not even in response to a teacher's question, in recognition of so-called discrimination and harassment—the silencing—experienced by gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender peers. These silent protesters will wear special T-shirts and hand out "speaking cards" explaining their concerns. Many schools will also host follow-up events, called "Breaking the Silence," which include workshops, speakers, and entertainment—all meant to reinforce the message that "homophobia" will not be tolerated. Here’s what you need to know about the event, and how to respond to it.
What’s it really about?
First of all, it’s important to understand that the Day of Silence is organized by a national homosexual activist group— the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN)— which also encourages the formation of pro-gay student clubs (Gay/Straight Alliances) in schools across the country.
GLSEN’s Day of Silence began in 1996 with 150 participants at one university. Today, GLSEN claims that 500,000 students participate in this event in nearly 4,000 schools, colleges and universities across the nation. Students are encouraged to wear Day of Silence T-shirts and pass out cards that proclaim they are a part of a “national youth movement bringing attention to the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies.”
One controversial aspect of this event is that Day of Silence organizers ask students to refuse to speak during classroom time, directly interfering with public schools’ mandated instruction schedule— which as we all know, is already crunched for time just to cover the academic basics.
So at its heart the Day of Silence is an adult-driven campaign that is selfishly done for primarily political reasons, even though well-meaning students may decide to participate.
Why should we be concerned?
GLSEN claims this event is about tolerance and safety. But if you pay close attention to the messages being communicated, it’s clear that tolerance exists only for one viewpoint—complete acceptance of homosexuality as normal and worthy of being embraced. Anyone who doesn’t agree with that message is cast as bigoted and ignorant.
Of course, that one-sided presentation puts students with deeply held religious convictions in danger of having their beliefs discriminated against, or worse, ridiculed. It may also cause students who struggle with unwanted same-sex attraction to feel hopeless—because they are not given an opportunity to hear the perspective of people who say it’s possible to change if you want to do so.
What’s frightening about all this is the fact that events like the Day of Silence appear to have a role in shaping students' views of homosexuality.
· According to a recent Zogby poll, the majority of 2006 high school seniors favor legal recognition of same-sex relationships.
· In 2007, USA Today reported that “Gay teenagers are ‘coming out’ earlier than ever … The change is happening in the wake of opinion polls that show growing acceptance of gays ....”
· Polls also show that a large majority of students support gay adoption.
Another problem with events that celebrate homosexual behavior is that they do not tell students the whole story. Any sexual behavior among unmarried young people is risky, especially homosexual behavior. For instance, data from cities across the U.S. indicate that rates for diseases like syphilis1, gonorrhea2, hepatitis and human papilloma virus are consistently – and disproportionately – high among gay men3. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also reveal that the vast majority – approximately 70 percent – of cases of HIV transmission are through male homosexual activity4. And young men seem to be especially at risk, with groups like the American Foundation for AIDS Research stating that at least half of new HIV infections annually are among people under age 255.
And despite nearly a quarter-century of “safe sex” education efforts undertaken in large measure by the gay activist community and its allies in the medical professions, the number of people in the United States newly reported to have HIV increased by about 50 percent from 2005 to 2006, according to data released recently by the CDC6.
So it’s irresponsible for public schools to allow students to be pushed by outside national groups to embrace a sexual lifestyle. They should at least allow students to make informed decisions by letting them hear both sides of the story.
How should we respond?
When people find out that a Day of Silence is being celebrated in their school, they may wonder how to respond in a way that expresses both truth and love. The good news is that there is an alternative: The Day of Truth, which was established by the Alliance Defense Fund in 2005, equips student of faith with a winsome and compassionate way to express their viewpoint.
“In the past, students who have attempted to speak against the promotion of the homosexual agenda have been censored or, in some cases, punished for their beliefs. It is important that students stand up for their First Amendment right to hear and speak the Truth about human sexuality in order to protect that freedom for future generations. The Day of Truth provides an opportunity to publicly exercise our free speech rights,” explains the Day of Truth Web site.
This year, the Day of Truth is being celebrated on April 28 (the Monday immediately after GLSEN’s Day of Silence). Participating students are encouraged to wear T-shirts and pass out cards (not during class time) with the following message:
I'm speaking the Truth to break the silence.
True tolerance means that people with differing -- even opposing -- viewpoints can freely exchange ideas and respectfully listen to each other.
It's time for an honest conversation about homosexuality.
There's freedom to change if you want to. Let’s talk.
In contrast to the Day of Silence, the Day of Truth encourages dialogue. And while the Day of Silence campaign disrupts classes and is divisive—pitting students against "intolerant" parents, relatives, peers, teachers, administrators, and community members—the Day of Truth does not disrupt classes or other activities and is meant to strengthen families. It is an opportunity to speak God's uncompromising truth in love and compassion in the hopes of setting captives free.
One of the most important messages ADF hopes students will convey is that people can and do change. Whereas homosexual advocacy groups say that homosexuality is an immutable characteristic, like skin color, scientific research suggests that homosexual orientation is most likely due to the interaction of biological, psychological, and environmental/social factors. (See "Are people really born gay?") While not a "choice" in the conventional sense—like deciding which grocery store to go to—homosexual identity develops over time through a series of smaller choices made in reaction to environmental influences and experiences.
How we can have the most impact?
First of all, it’s important to be respectful to students, teachers and principals, no matter how rude the responses of others may be to your message. It’s also important to follow procedure. Pass out Day of Truth cards only during breaks, lunch hours or before and after school. Do not pass out cards during class time. It’s a good idea to check into your school's policy on literature distribution beforehand—you may need to get permission to pass out the Day of Truth cards and put up posters. Don’t purposefully break the rules.
At the same time, it’s important to be aware of your legal rights. When schools sponsor pro-gay events like the Day of Silence—and then turn around and censor student-led events like the Day of Truth—that’s a classic case of viewpoint discrimination. If schools are opening their doors to the Day of Silence, then students’ with deeply held religious convictions can make the case that their views should equally respected—and also be given a place at the table. The bottom line is that freedom of speech should apply to everyone, not just selected groups of students.
Some people may falsely accuse Day of Truth participants of wanting to discriminate against gay people. Students who face those comments can calmly respond by explaining that they do not desire to hurt anyone and are opposed to any form of harassment against anyone—no matter who they are. At the same time, students of faith have the right to politely request that they in turn be given equal time and respect for their viewpoints, without facing harassment or censorship.
The good news is that students across the country are standing up for those rights—and they are succeeding. For example, in 2006, Benjamin Arthurs, a student at Midway High School in North Carolina, was suspended from school for distributing materials outside of class time during the Day of Truth event—even though students participating in the Day of Silence were permitted to observe that event. Arthurs sought help from the Alliance Defense Fund and won a settlement that made the school revise its unconstitutional policies prohibiting religious speech, events and T-shirts. The suspension was expunged from his record.
ADF hopes the Day of Truth will equip more students like Arthurs to tell the "rest of the story" and express their First Amendment rights. If you are a student and want to participate, be sure to visit the the Day of Truth Web site or call 1-800-Tell-ADF to register. ADF has developed a training manual that assists students with every aspect of organizing and also has a team of attorneys standing by to help students whose legal rights are violated.
Abhisit hopes earthquake survivors will feel “more confident” with lighter, more radiant skin
BANGKOK – Responding to international criticism that its initial donation of $20,000 was insufficient, the Thai government has generously added 50,000 bottles of whitening skin cream to its aid shipment to earthquake-stricken Haiti. “Thailand is a compassionate nation,” said Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya. “We noticed in the news that the Haitians are all very dark-skinned. This is surely one of the reasons they are living in poverty. With lighter skin they could be more successful.”
The donation is co-sponsored by Unilever Thailand Ltd., which has agreed to provide the 50,000 bottles of Citra Ultra White if the government provides shipping. Along with the whitening cream, there will also be 50,000 copies of Citra’s new brochure, explaining the power of Citra’s double-action anti-aging and brightening formula. “Citra Ultra White lets you look and feel your best,” said Marlene Van Houten, Unilever’s regional marketing director. “Whether you’re standing in line for UN food shipments, or just sorting through the rubble of your devastated village, Citra Ultra White provides whiter skin and all-day UV protection.”
The whitening cream represents the single-largest shipment of its kind ever to a disaster-zone. Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said that the generosity of Thais was evident because so many people had encouraged the donation. “Everyone kept talking about how black-skinned the Haitians are,” he said. “At every discussion about aid, the skin color kept coming up. I see now that the initial pledge of USD20,000 was very low because in the back of our minds we knew that these black people needed something more than just money.”
Many people interviewed for the story seemed to agree with the PM. “I donated some money to help the Chinese after the Sichuan earthquake,” said office worker Vasana Prasarnmit. “But these Haiti people are so dark I don’t want to give them anything. Maybe if they were lighter, like Obama.” It is believed that the whitening cream can make the homeless, starving survivors of the earthquake look whiter and brighter in just 14 days, according to the Unilever brochure. It is hoped that by looking whiter, the Haitians might be able to secure more aid.
“White skin is the key to succes in life, whether it’s job interviews, finding a mate, or being elected to office,” said Chulalongkorn sociology professor Urmkit Srisomwattanathip. “There’s no reason to believe this is any different.” The Haitian government has tentatively accepted the donation, but has surprisingly appealed for more non-whitening aid.
“We have nothing,” said a local Haitian aid worker with the UN. “We need shelter, food, clean water. There are hundreds of children dying every day from dysentery. Please help us. For god’s sake, wake up and see the suffering.”

The Skin Debacle
The crude implication that white skin is the right skin is one of the main reasons that Black people stay mentally constrained and unable to reach the potential of global economic influence, educational wealth, and unity.
For the most part, the African men that I have been exposed to care about (1) The bone structure/physical characteristics of a woman’s face (2) (probably moreso than 1), Her body. No matter how skinny a girl is, as long as she has…..endowment, then she’s alright. Typically, bigger women are more admirable because the size of a woman forecasts her ability and success in bearing children. (3) She can’t be dumb. By dumb, I don’t necessarily mean women that didn’t pursue secondary or post-secondary degrees and excel; by “she can’t be dumb”, I mean a woman has to be able to reason, multitask, and handle a household (cook, clean, raise 5-6 children, run a small family business, etc.). These three things were what I observed growing up as the standard of African beauty. Women who may get teased for their features, dark skin, heaviness, etc. in the West, were always the ones that the men in my family appreciated.
CASES In POINT:
By Western standards, Serena Williams’ facial and
physical features are described as masculine because of her athletic build and
dark skin. By African standards, her facial bone structure is stunning and her
body is perfect.
After competing on ANTM, Toccara starred on Celebrity Fit Club, since by Western standards she’s just too big. By African standards, she should stay just as she is.
Kelly Rowland is petite compared to the other two examples, but she still has a figure. Who I once heard referred to as “Destiny’s dark child” (I don’t want to talk about that day), is the favorite DC member of most of my African (and American) friends. While by Western standards her skin may be a bit darker than mainstream entertainers, she is flawless to many African men that I know. (Side Note: This may be why her following is so large in the UK, and even why she chooses to stay there. The UK has a huge African population.)
